Topeka Body Shop

Located in Topeka, Indianna, which is 50 miles N and a bit W of Fort Wayne, or 50 miles E of South Bend. Yes, there is a body shop in Topeka that paints GMC coaches (Topeka is 13 miles SW of Lagrange). However, they do not "specialize" in these -- they are just a body and paint shop that has a large paint room, and a lot of experience in painting GMCs. They don't solicit this business -- don't advertise in any GMC publications, etc. All new jobs are from people that have heard good results from previous customers.

Larry uses BASF paint, but I believe I heard him say he would use Imron if a customer prefers (probably at a higher cost). He said most GMCs average between $3000 to $3500 for a paint job. When I told Larry that some Netters
had the impression that he did a "cheap" paint job because of the lower cost, Larry said he feels he does what the average GMC owner wants - a well-done paint job that looks good, and will last for years. He said if a customer insisted on a "restoration" he would have more labor involved - all old paint removed, more body work, higher priced paint, etc, and the price would be higher. He hasn't kept a list of his GMC customers, but I know he has had customers from NC, OR, and MS.

Their name is Topeka Body Shop; the owner is Larry Bontrager; their phone number is (219) 593-2661. And, no, I do not get any kickback for referrals :>). I have known Larry for a number of years, and didn't even know he painted GMCs till a few months ago. I live close to Topeka, so I have been trying to answer questions for those on the Net.
